Using IR to Predict Molecular Structure
Description:
This video demonstrates how to identify the presence and predicted absence of organic functional groups based on an infrared (IR) spectrum. Follow along by pausing the video as needed to check your IR spectral data table and write down the organic functional groups that you think are detected in the spectrum, as well as those that you predict to be absent in the molecule based on the spectrum. Use that information and sketch the possible molecules that could be the unknown compound.
